Green Bay Ice Fishing for Whitefish continues to be great! Depending on the day ice fisherman have been using a variety of jigs, swedish pimples and jigging raps tipped with grubs and minnows to catch the Whitefish through the ice. Depending on the day and/or week certain rigs work 75% better than the others. We do recommend doing the fully guided trips for your ice fishing excursion out of Sturgeon Bay on Green Bay as the those who do out fish the unguided trips 3 to 1. The Whitefish bite has been good all the way down the Bay of Green Bay to Dyckseville and that bit continues North through Door County up to Sister Bay. Typically the best fishing for Whitefish through the ice is and has been out of Sturgeon Bay.
Ice conditions are good right now. We have about 14 inches + out a mile or two and as you head out to deeper structure ice fisherman are finding thinner ice. We do always recommend talking to local bait shops and guides for ice conditions on the Bay of Green Bay as it can change quickly.
